ICSI Acknowledges MCA's Decision to Extend Company Compliance Facilitation Scheme (CCFS) 2026

The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) has formally conveyed its appreciation to the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) following the Ministry's decision to grant a further extension to the Company Compliance Facilitation Scheme (CCFS) 2026. The extension was effected through MCA General Circular No. 04/2026 dated 31st August, 2026, and the ICSI's acknowledgment is dated the same day.
This development comes in the wake of persistent representations made by the Institute to the Ministry, highlighting genuine operational difficulties encountered by companies and practicing professionals in meeting compliance obligations within the originally prescribed timeline.
Background: The Company Compliance Facilitation Scheme (CCFS) 2026
The Company Compliance Facilitation Scheme (CCFS) 2026 was introduced by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs under the Companies Act, 2013 as a one-time facilitation mechanism, enabling companies with pending or defaulted filings to regularize their compliance status, typically with concessional or waived additional fees. Such schemes serve as a relief mechanism for companies that may have missed statutory filing deadlines due to administrative, technical, or financial constraints.
An earlier extension to the Scheme had already been granted through MCA General Circular No. 03/2026, which had extended the validity of CCFS 2026 up to 31st August, 2026. The latest circular — MCA General Circular No. 04/2026 dated 31st August, 2026 — provides a further extension beyond that date, in direct response to the concerns formally raised by ICSI.
