ICAI Issues Official Denial of Data Breach Allegations Circulating on Social Media
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has stepped forward with a formal clarification addressing a wave of social media posts that have been falsely alleging a compromise of sensitive data belonging to its members, students, and examination systems. The Institute has categorically rejected these claims, describing them as entirely without merit and driven by malicious intent.

In recent times, several posts began circulating across various social media platforms, purportedly suggesting that ICAI had suffered a data breach affecting its member and student records, along with confidential examination-related data. These posts spread rapidly, generating significant anxiety and confusion among the Institute's vast stakeholder base — including enrolled students preparing for examinations, practising Chartered Accountants, and other connected parties.
Recognising the potential harm such misinformation could cause to public trust and institutional credibility, ICAI moved swiftly to issue an official public announcement addressing the matter head-on.
ICAI's Official Position: Claims Are False, Baseless, and Malicious
In its formal announcement, the Institute made its stance unequivocally clear. ICAI confirmed that:
- No breach of members' or students' records has occurred — whether in the manner alleged through social media or in any other form
- Examination data remains fully secure and has not been accessed, leaked, or compromised in any manner
