FSSAI Amends Notified Food Analyst List: Entries 294 to 352 Inserted, Six Earlier Entries Omitted
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued a fresh amendment notification dated April 2, 2026, bringing significant changes to its official list of recognized food analysts and associated testing laboratories across India. This amendment modifies the principal notification bearing reference F. No. 12015/05/2021-QA, which was originally published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part III, Section 4, on July 2, 2021.
The revision reflects FSSAI's continuing effort to keep its regulatory apparatus updated by expanding the pool of certified food analysts and simultaneously removing certain entries that are no longer operative.
Legal Basis for the Amendment
The amendment has been issued by FSSAI in exercise of the authority vested under sub-section 5 of section 10 read with section 45 of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 (34 of 2006). These provisions empower the Authority to notify food analysts and testing laboratories as part of its quality assurance mandate.
Note: This is a regulatory notification, not a judicial or adjudicatory order. It carries statutory force under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, and directly affects which analysts and laboratories are recognized for food testing purposes under Indian law.
Key Changes Introduced by the April 2026 Notification
1. Omission of Six Existing Serial Numbers
The following serial numbers have been removed from the existing table of notified food analysts:
- Serial Number 102
- Serial Number 125
- Serial Number 246
- Serial Number 258
- Serial Number 264
- Serial Number 265
The omission of these entries effectively de-recognizes the respective analysts or laboratories from the FSSAI-notified list, meaning they will no longer be authorized to function in that notified capacity under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
2. Insertion of New Entries: Serial Numbers 294 to 352
After serial number 293, 59 new entries (serial numbers 294 through 352) have been inserted. These new additions span a wide geographical spread, covering major cities and industrial hubs including Hyderabad, Gurgaon, Chennai, Navi Mumbai, Delhi, Kochi, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Siliguri, Noida, Indore, Thane, Manesar, Panchkula, Visakhapatnam, Salem, Ghaziabad, Sonipat, and others.
The newly inserted food analysts and their associated laboratories are as follows:
