RoDTEP Scheme Validity Extended: What Exporters Need to Know for April–September 2026
The Government of India has formally prolonged the operation of the Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products (RoDTEP) Scheme for another six months, ensuring uninterrupted support to exporters. This extension has been notified by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) through Notification No. 74/2025-26-DGFT dated March 31, 2026.
Under this notification, the RoDTEP Scheme will now remain applicable from 01.04.2026 to 30.09.2026 for all eligible export items, without any change in the existing rates or value caps.
Legal Basis of the Extension
Statutory Authority
The Central Government has exercised its powers under:
- Section 5 of the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992, and
- Para 1.02 of the Foreign Trade Policy, 2023, as amended from time to time.
Using these enabling provisions, the Government has issued an amendment that specifically extends the RoDTEP Scheme and preserves the rate structure notified earlier.
Important: The extension is purely in terms of validity period. No fresh rate revision or structural modification of the scheme has been undertaken through this notification.
Period of Extension and Scope
Extended Validity Window
The RoDTEP Scheme will continue to operate as follows:
- Start date of extended period: 01.04.2026
- End date of extended period: 30.09.2026
- Coverage: All export products that are already eligible under the scheme
Any eligible export shipment with Let Export Order (LEO) or export realization falling within this window will continue to be entitled to RoDTEP benefits, subject to all existing scheme conditions.
Continuity for Assessees
For assessees engaged in exports, this extension effectively means:
- There is no disruption in RoDTEP support beyond 31.03.2026.
- Exporters can continue planning and pricing their export contracts on the basis of the same remission benefits already in force as on 31.03.2026.
- Documentation and compliance requirements also remain unchanged.
Treatment of Rates and Value Caps
No Change in Remission Rates
The notification clearly provides that:
- The rates notified in Appendix 4R and Appendix 4RE,
- As applicable on 31.03.2026,
will continue unchanged during the extended period from 01.04.2026 to 30.09.2026.
This ensures that the remission benefits remain aligned with the earlier notified structure and no mid-year rate fluctuations affect exporters.
Value Caps Unaltered
Apart from the percentage rates, value caps prescribed in the same appendices will also remain the same. This implies:
- The maximum permissible benefit per unit of export product, as set out in the existing schedules, will not be revised for the extended period.
- Exporters cannot claim any enhanced RoDTEP benefit on the basis of this extension alone; it is strictly a continuation, not an enhancement exercise.
Note: Any future change in rates or value caps would require a separate notification. The present notification is limited only to extending the time period with the existing parameters.
