Hero MotoCorp Posts 12% YoY Growth in September 2026 Dispatches Ahead of Festive Demand

Hero MotoCorp, described as the world’s largest manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters, has reported a year-on-year increase of 12% in vehicle dispatches for September 2026. As per the company’s update, total dispatches during the month stood at 7,66,348 units, compared to 6,87,220 units in September of the previous year.

This growth comes at a time when the two-wheeler industry is preparing for the festive season, and it reflects a combination of stronger demand trends, focused product strategies, and an improving retail environment, particularly in the domestic market.

Overall Dispatch Performance in September 2026

Total Units Dispatched

For September 2026, Hero MotoCorp reported:

  • Total dispatches: 7,66,348 units
  • Total dispatches in September 2025: 6,87,220 units

This represents a 12% year-on-year rise, indicating a positive volume trajectory ahead of major festive occasions, which historically contribute significantly to two-wheeler sales in India.

Key Growth Drivers

Several factors appear to contribute to this increase in dispatch volumes:

  • Rising consumer interest in two-wheelers as mobility solutions
  • Strengthening demand for Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) motorcycles and scooters
  • Focused product and marketing initiatives tied to the festive period
  • Continued traction in both domestic and select overseas markets

Strong Momentum in Domestic ICE Business

Domestic ICE Segment Performance

The company’s Domestic Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) portfolio remained the primary contributor to its September 2026 performance. As per the company’s figures:

  • Domestic ICE dispatches in September 2026: 7,10,436 units
  • Domestic ICE dispatches in September 2025: 6,32,253 units

This reflects a notable year-on-year improvement in the ICE business, indicating that conventional engine products continue to form the backbone of Hero MotoCorp’s volumes in India.

ICE Scooters: High Double-Digit Growth

Within the broader ICE category, the scooter segment showed especially strong momentum:

  • ICE scooters recorded 60% year-on-year growth in dispatches

This suggests that urban and semi-urban mobility needs, coupled with evolving customer preferences and product offerings, are encouraging higher uptake of scooters in the domestic market.

Domestic Retail Indicators and VAHAN Data

Retail Momentum in the Domestic Market

In addition to dispatch figures, data from VAHAN, the government’s vehicle registration database, points to healthy on-ground retail activity. According to the company’s reference to VAHAN data:

  • The domestic market recorded a 31% increase in retail momentum

This growth in retail indicators is particularly relevant because it reflects actual registrations and, therefore, end-customer sales, rather than just wholesale dispatches to dealers.
